Chances are you’ve google “body piercings near me” and are now looking for some extra info on body piercing. Vida Loca Tattoo Bolton also offers body piercing and cosmetic tattoos.  We are going to look at our body piercings, we are going to cover what a body piercing is, how a body piercing is done / what is the piercing process and also if piercings are harmful to the body. Lets gooooo!

What is a body piercing

This is exactly what it sounds like.  But what does it sound like? Basically, a body piercing is when a skin is punctured by a gun or a needle.  Once the puncture or hole is made then we place a piece of jewelry into that hole.
As simple as that! We pierce almost everywhere, nose, ear, belly button, nostril, lip, tongue, eyebrow, tongue, septum, nipple and dermals.  You can check out our piercings portfolio here. We don't do genital piercings though.

How is a body piercing done?

The piercing process at Vida Loca Piercings starts with you being met by one of our experienced and friendly piercers Jenny or Megan.  From there, you will go into the piercing room, the area will be cleaned up, you will be marked up (a dot put in the appropriate place) in the agreed place to verify your piercing location.
After this, our friendly piercer will take you through the process before lying you down and getting you comfortable.  You will be pierced with either a needle or a piercing gun. We only use a piercing gun for lobes as it can shatter cartilage.  All our needles are single use cannula needles. Any claps we used are sterilised through the autoclave.

Things you need know for your piercing

There are a few things we want you to bring with you when you get pierced.
  • ID is required
  • Any under 16 need to be accompanied be an adult
  • Everyone has a health check
  • Everyone heals differently (we will be creating a aftercare post)
  • It might be painful
  • Everyone heals differently

Are piercings harmful to the body?

Considering you are putting a needle through your body and creating a hole, this could cause some harm to the body.  It can result in bleeding, swelling, scarring or maybe an infection if your body has a reaction to the jewelry
But for the most part piercings do not harm the body, depending on your pain threshold it could cause you to winse a little.  We get lots of emails about enquiries and for the most part are about whether or not the piercing hurts. This is totally subjective as some people are fine with needles and have a great threshold.
To help you out we have put together a list of the painful places for a piercing from most to least.

Most painful place for a piercing:-

  1. Genitals (most painful)
  2. Nipple
  3. Septum
  4. Industrial
  5. Conch
  6. Rook
  7. Stretching
  8. Dermal
  9. Helix
  10. Daith
  11. Tongue
  12. Eyebrow
  13. Nostril
  14. Lip
  15. Navel
  16. Earlobe (least painful)
In conclusion, whether its piercings for you nose, types of body piercings, body piercing jewelry or just simple and straight forward ear piercing.  We can offer you a family feel and a great consultation with plenty of advice for your first or thirty first piercing. If you are looking for ideas, check our portfolio out here, if you are looking for a booking or advice, drop us a line on vidalocatattoobolton@gmail.com and we will be happy to help you out.
